Education
Old Glory Bees offers a wide variety of educational opportunities to choose from for unique learning opportunities. We welcome the chance to share our bees and bee experience with people as a way to educate, enjoy nature or simply gather some hands on experience with someone who enjoys bees.
One on One
Contact us via email to schedule one on one time in the apiary while we check hives. This is as simple as socializing in the apiary, becoming familiar with bee behavior either up close or from a distance, learning about bee behavior or simply learning how to be calm in an apiary. Many times we have spoken to people who have taken all the classes but are not sure how to proceed or are too nervous to start on their own with no hands-on experience. This event can be a deciding factor in boosting confidence, getting familiar with bees without having purchased a hive and also clarifies many things taught in the classroom.
Nature Connection
We have learned that simply being in the vicinity of the hives has a calming and balancing effect on our minds and bodies. The nature connection is a chance to quiet your mind and focus on the world surrounding the bees. This offer has no open hive activity and is instead a chance to unwind and learn about the need to be in a space where the bees are working. Up to 3 people maximum and the beekeeper is on site to set up a safe location to the hives and answer any questions. A perfect chance for those who meditate to be in a soothing space outside. Fee to be determined on the time of day and season. Contact us via email for more information or to reserve a time.

Home School Adventure
Old Glory Bees strongly believes the success of future beekeeping needs to begin with the next generation of beekeepers. Adventure sessions give home school groups a chance to add an apiary visit to their curriculum. All children must have an adult with them and we will predetermine topics with the home school coordinator. Maximum of 20 students, no minimum. A donation for the event is recommended for the session and will depend on the size of the group. Plan on 1.5-3 hours per session. Advanced notice is needed. Book now for summer sessions. Contact us via email for more information and for scheduling options.
Hobby Apprentice Program
This opportunity is for beekeepers with minimal experience that either do not have their own hives or have one or two but want more hands on experience in a larger apiary. This is a weekly allotted time frame throughout the apiary season (May-October). Minimum of one day per week helping our apiary equipment prep, checking hives, splits, feeding and treatments, honey extraction, and winter prep. Limited space and the time scheduled is fluid depending on weather and access to hives. Fee to be determined throughout the season. Contact us via email for more information and for scheduling options.
Garden and Craft Session
Schedule a craft or garden session and use honeybee by products for education and crafting. Plan a pollinators garden, learn to make beeswax candles, dried flowers in beeswax and other assorted crafts. Contact via email for more information.
